WW2 History of 121st Infantry 8th Divsion, US Army

I found my father's name listed as buried at Normandy France cem., died 22 July 1944, combat organization as 121st Infantry, 8th Division. Where can I find anything, internet, books, etc, about this unit? What combat operations were taking place around that location and date?

In 1991, I sent to St. Louis to his military records and was advised that they had been burned in the fire. I am going to resend my request soon.
