Iran nuclear plan becomes more of a reality with every passing moment and it seems that Israel is not going to let it pass the stage of unreturn.
Israel Prime Minister Ehud Olmert stated after his ninety minute meeting with U. S. President George W. Bush, “We reached agreement on the need to take care of the Iranian threat. I left with a lot less questions marks I had entered with regarding the means, the timetable restrictions and American resoluteness to deal with the problem. George Bush understands the severity of the Iranian threat and the need to vanquish it and intends to act on the matter before the end of his term in the White House. With every day that goes by we get closer to stopping the Iran nuclear plan.” INN reports indicated they discussed military action against Iran’s twenty-two year nuclear weapons program. Olmert concluded by saying it was not good to publicize everything, in other words the details of the timetable and specific targets.
I don’t know if the report on the Crossfire blog is correct but I can’t believe Bush plans to entangle in another war in the Gulf area in the few months that he has to his presidency.
We can look at the lessons we learned from Iraq and know two things - it is never a short military operation so there are chances that destroying Iran’s nuclear ability means a long extensive war and the other thing we know by now is that Iran won’t stop its effort to create nuclear weapons just to make our lives easier.
Even the option of letting Israel do the attack is not as simple as it seems because such an attack is bound to drive the whole area into a full blown war.
Right now it is very unlikely that doing nothing would solve the problem but any action could mean a full blown war.
