Hey all, I'm looking for some history on the USS Levy. Specifically who she was sold to, to be scrapped. I've looked all over and I can find dates, history, but nothing that tells who the scrapping company was or who she was bought by when it happened. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

a425couple wanted to say: Five days, no responses, so I'll try something. Interesting question (trivia??), it is quite possible that we are using the same sources that are incomplete on this.

The USS Levy was active in WWII. One source indicates decom 4 April 47. Sat at Norfolk Va., striken Aug 73, sold 17 July 1974. Is that what you have?

Relevant background. Levy DE162 was the very first produced ship of the Cannon class. ((first one sometimes has extra problems!?)) The USN considered this class 'Unsatisfactory.' Rather than wholesale scrapping, they were put out for sale. Many sold to Forign Navies, many scrapped. (trivia, Thailand kept one only 7 years before scrapping!,, some kept active for 40 years!) (tough luck trivia, DE197 Roche, struck a mine months after war over, then scuttled Mar 46.) (first sent 3-9, second sending 3-11, third 3-14, fourth 3-17, and OP's email doesn't work, fifth sent via Louis 3-19)
