You realize, I am sure, the estimates of the number of Kibei ranged from wild overstatements of 40,000 to 50,000 downward to Ringle's statement that there were 1200 to 1400 in Southern California, which would suggest a number around 5,000 for the entire West Coast.
Dorothy Thomas concluded that about one of every five Nisei was a Kibei; of 70,000 Nisei this would give about 14,000 Kibei. If half were females, there would be about 7,000 to 8,000 males, of which many were minors.
