to have handguns, all the pictures I have are .45 Colt Autos. But then all of my pictures are from 1943-1944. After the fall of 1944, as the bombers pressed in on Germany proper, it was considered by some poor practice to carry the handguns, as there were many reported instances of downed airmen being shot with their own weapons by irate German civilians. Anyone who can clarify this more is welcome to jump in.

He was employed as an economist at the provincial (state) government level after 1940. Prior to that, he was self-employed, owning a sporting goods and shoe store jointly with his two sisters.
