My parents told me that the Japanese forces stationed in Manchuria was defeated by the Russian army toward the end of WWII. However, I can't find any more information on this campaign. If anyone has any info please tell me how to get it. Thank you very much.

David Glantz (while he was on active duty in the U.S. Army) published two Leavenworth Papers on the attack on Manchuria. It is also treated in his recent 'When Titans Clashed: How the Red Army Stopped Hitler'. It was a tremendous campaign, destroying a large Japanese army with very few losses.

For copies of the Leavenworth Papers, you could contact the Government Printing Office(Washington DC 20402) which is the publisher.
